MANUEL ESCOTET
PERSONAL ACCOUNT
I was born in Oviedo, Spain in 1950 and a Venezuelan by nacionalización. In 1952 our family migrated to Venezuela fleeing from the post-civil war difficulties. Through the years we have lived in several places around the country and since 1966 we are residenced in Caracas. The eldest of eight brothers and sisters, I am married with seven children, four girls and three boys. My early youth during the 60’s had me witness great changes all around the globe: the Cold War, the missile crisis, the death of the Kennedys and Martin Luther King, the space race, the Beatles, the hippies and Woodstock, Disneyworld and the passing of its creator, the first heart transplant, Apollo XI and its mission to the Moon with Neil Armstrong setting foot on the lunar surface, and many more events sorrounded my early years with amazement. But above all this my spirit was most deeply touched by the religious events sorrounding the Second Vatican Council between 1962 and 1965. Two years of discussions, the passing of Pope John XXIII and his succesor Paul VI, the Traveling Pope, and so many messages refering to the religious missions. As a consequence of the resulting decisions and changes I was influenced to the point that I joined the Santa Rosa de Lima seminary in 1962 driven by a profound priestly vocation to become a missionary priest. Three years in the seminar inspired me with important spiritual principles and values focused on my fellow man that still persist at my age. The impact of what I lived between my 13 and 16 years of age, as well as the missionary aid that we delivered to the most despairing marked my personal behaviour forever. To help and support others became a rewarding mission. My priest vocation had come to an end but not my desire to help others.
I entered the university in 1968 and graduated as a Public Accountant. Professional life has provided me with opportunities to work in many and diverse activities, the main of which has been the promotion and development of construction projects, varied civil works and buiding remodeling. In the 70’s I became a specialist in feasibility studies for turistic projects and as such I participated in the creation of the Venezuelan government’s tourism administration.
I counseled for different projects in Puerto Rico, Panamá, Dominican Republic, Spain, Irak, among others. Later on I specialized in hospital projects (clinics, hospitals, medical offices, diagnostic and treatment units) and in that capacity I participated and directed important projects in Venezuela, both public and private. Last but not least, I have been active in civil construction assisting more than 7,000 projects, mostly in the commercial and finance sectors.
Today I am dedicated with great eagerness and as much time as possible to the Anhelos Project within the framework of features explained in these pages. The project is sizeable, up or down, according to the market needs in the target location. At ANHELOSLAND we are open to the best ideas and purposes. We have the support of the wisest users and clients, the senior citizens with all their experience and knowledge, to satisfy their needs and demands for a better, delightful and longer life.
